Last weekend marked the end of yet another successful Accedia Masters IT tournament. This edition gathered IT professionals that share a passion for the ancient game. Over 80 players tested their skills on the arena, among them developers, university professors, and IT students.
The tournament took place on April 16th. This season featured challenging chess games, complex strategies, hard-won points, and game levels, reaching professional heights. The first 8 places won financial awards.
The Accedia Masters IT champion 2022 is Georgi Nikolaev, followed by Rostislav Paev and Todor Georgiev. The best among the ladies was Plamena Andreeva, followed by Elitsa Raeva and Nona Mircheva. The most successful Accedia players were Stefan Dimitrov, Daniel Manolov, and Georgi Peltekov. You can check the final ranking on this link.
“This tournament is a proof that the joined efforts always lead to a good result. Nowadays, the connection that has been established between the IT sector and the chess, provides a good opportunity. It helps for the popularization of this sport and for its modernization through innovations in the IT sphere,” shared the main judge of Accedia Masters IT, Veneta Petkova.
Georgi Peltekov, Engineering Director at Accedia, initiated the Accedia Masters events a year ago. The initiative gives amateur chess players the opportunity to not only practice their favorite sport but also share professional experience. In one of the previous editions was also elected the new Bulgarian Grandmaster – Martin Petrov.
Georgi Peltekov commented that “We continue with bigger and better tournaments. We are just starting the planning of a new large-scale event that will be open to everyone who likes to play chess. We are motivated to become better and to exceed our players’ expectations with each consequent event!”
