Clash’s first episode – .NET vs Java

Last week Accedia held its first Сблъсък* event. Сблъсък will be a regular occurrence where Accedia team members will take the boxing ring and debate on topics they’re passionate and knowledgeable about. All the while the rest of us sit back with a bag of popcorn and enjoy.

In оur very first Сблъсък episode the contestants were two of our senior software consultants and the topic was .NET vs Java. Part of Accedia for over 6 years, Stoyan Atanasov and Lazar Lazarov (Lazo) were rooting respectively for .NET and Java. Stoyan is a .NET master with a wide range of web and mobile applications under his belt. Lazo, on the other hand, has a strong background in both .NET and Java, however, ultimately chose to devote himself to Java and prove that it’s just as capable and powerful as .NET.

Some of the main topics discussed were how easy it is to get started with .NET and Java and how long does it take to master them.  Also what ORM (Object-relational mapping) tools Lazo and Stoyan use; what does the unit testing look like; what is the current development state of both languages, and much more.

During the first episode “.NET vs Java” we had some passionate discussions and arguments from both sides of the ring, however, in the end, the audience had spoken. With 25 votes for .NET and 19 for Java, the winner in the first-ever episode of Сблъсък was .NET, endorsed by Stoyan Atanasov.
