Rundown of Accedia Masters 2021

Over the weekend Accedia held its first official chess championship – Accedia Masters. 219 contestants from 7 countries, including 12 professional chess players and 6 international chess champions were competing for the title in this year’s tournament as well as for the prize fund of over 5 000BGN. This is the first chess event in the country that brings together IT professionals and chess players from all age groups.

Each contestant played 9 rounds after which the game was tight. Four of the participants had even score, which made the tournament even more intense! After analyzing all additional criteria, however, there was one indisputable winner – Ivan Cheparinov. He was leading the ranking from the very beginning and didn’t let the title slip away.

Another player who also received the love and admiration from both the jury and the audience was Nikola Kanov – the 13-year-old contestant who ranked fifth in this year’s Accedia Masters.

After just one season Accedia Masters managed to become the biggest chess tournament in Bulgaria in years.  It is an inclusive initiative where chess is celebrated by players from all around the world.

And for everyone who didn’t have the chance to take part in the tournament this year, we’ll see you in 2022! Check out Accedia’s Facebook page and stay up to date with all of our events and initiatives.
