AI Readiness Assessment for Banks and Financial Institutions

Most AI projects in financial services fail before they reach production. The ones that succeed start with a clear picture of readiness gaps. This free assessment gives you that picture in under 10 minutes. Based on SR 11-7, EU AI Act, and fair lending frameworks. Used by compliance, risk, and technology leaders at banks and insurers.

What You Receive After the Assessment

Your results appear instantly on screen. No email, no waiting, no sign-up required.

You'll see at a glance where your organisation stands across five dimensions of AI readiness - with a score for each category, an overall readiness score, and a tier that tells you what that means in practice.

  • Overall Readiness Score (0–100) A single score showing where your organisation sits on the AI readiness scale, weighted to your primary use case.
  • Category Breakdown See how you score across Data Readiness, Technical Infrastructure, Organisational Readiness, Process Maturity, and Governance & Compliance.
  • Readiness Tier One of four tiers - Early Stage, Building Foundations, Ready for Pilots, or Implementation Ready - so you know exactly where you stand and what comes next.

Who Is This Assessment For

This assessment is built for the people responsible for making AI work in regulated financial institutions - not just evaluating it. It's most useful if you are:

  • Chief Data Officer (CDO) - assessing whether your data assets are structured, governed, and accessible enough to support AI at scale

  • Chief Technology Officer (CTO) - evaluating your infrastructure's ability to deploy, monitor, and maintain AI systems in production

  • Chief Risk Officer (CRO) - identifying model risk exposure and validating that controls align with SR 11-7 and internal risk appetite

  • Head of Compliance - mapping your current posture against EU AI Act, GDPR, Fair Lending, and AML/KYC obligations

  • AI or Data Science Lead - benchmarking organisational and process readiness before committing to a production roadmap

  • Digital Transformation Lead - building the business case for AI investment with a structured gap analysis

Regulatory Frameworks Covered

Every question and recommendation is framed around the realities of regulated financial institutions. The assessment covers:

  • SR 11-7

Model risk management requirements for AI and quantitative models, including validation, documentation, and ongoing monitoring

  • EU AI Act

Classification of AI systems by risk level, transparency obligations, and requirements for high-risk use cases in financial services

  • GDPR

Data privacy requirements affecting how personal data is collected, stored, and used in AI model training and inference

  • Fair Lending / ECOA

Bias testing, adverse action explainability, and non-discrimination requirements for credit and underwriting models

  • AML / KYC

Transaction monitoring model governance and the explainability requirements for anti-financial crime AI systems

  • PCI DSS

Data security controls relevant to AI systems that process or interact with payment card data

FAQs About This AI Readiness Assessment

  • What is an AI readiness assessment?

An AI readiness assessment evaluates whether your organisation has the data infrastructure, technology capabilities, processes, and governance controls needed to deploy AI responsibly. For financial institutions, it also covers regulatory posture and model risk management maturity. The output is a structured gap analysis - where you are, where you need to be, and which investments will have the most impact.

  • How long does the AI readiness assessment take?

The assessment takes 10–15 minutes to complete. You answer 22 questions across five categories: data readiness, technical infrastructure, organisational capacity, process maturity, and governance. Results are generated immediately after submission.

  • Is this assessment specific to financial services?

Yes. The AI readiness assessment includes questions on model risk management, fair lending compliance, data lineage, and regulatory explainability. It covers SR 11-7, GDPR, ECOA, AML/BSA/KYC, and other frameworks relevant to banks, insurers, and fintechs.

  • Who should complete the AI readiness assessment?

Ideally, a cross-functional group including your CDO, CTO, CRO, and compliance leads. Alternatively, a single coordinator can complete it and validate answers with relevant stakeholders. The assessment works best when data, technology, and risk perspectives are represented.

  • What do I receive after completing the assessment?

Your results appear immediately - an overall readiness score from 0 to 100, individual scores across five categories, and a readiness tier that tells you what your score means in practice. That gives you a clear starting point. For a fuller picture, our team can walk you through the findings, contextualise your gaps against what we see across the industry, and help you build a realistic roadmap for your organisation. If that would be useful, you can book a call directly from your results page.

  • What score do I need to be ready for AI implementation?

It depends on the complexity of the use case. As a guide: 70 and above means you are in the Implementation Ready tier and can move a production AI system from pilot to deployment with manageable risk. Scores of 50–69 indicate you are ready for a contained pilot but have gaps to close before scaling. Below 50, the priority is resolving foundational issues in data, governance, or infrastructure first. Category-level scores in the results tell you exactly where those gaps sit.
